How to get cat hair / lint off bridesmaid dress?

I just pulled my bridesmaid dress out of the closet to get altered for the wedding next week, and somehow my cat got in the closet and the cat hair got inside the bag with the dress. It is so staticky that I can't get it off- it jumps around. I don't want to ruin the dress. What wil be good for it- it's a satin dress.

Update:

Thanks for the answers- I tried the tape roller and it doesn't seem to work- I'm afraid I'm gonna ruin the dress if I go too sticky.- Think I'll try the warm cloth too. The Dryer sheet wont stain the dress will it? Thanks again everybody :)

I agree with everyone else, a lint roller would be best. But if you don't feel like going out and buying one, try masking tape. Since it's satin, I suggest not to use duct tape because since it's so strong, it may rip the fabric.

Oh boy...try one of those sticky lint rollers or wrap some masking tape around your hand several times and then dap the areas with hair. You could also try taking a CLEAN shop vac to it and sucking the hair off. I'd also call your local cleaners to see if they have any ideas.

  • You can buy a lint roller before then. A bit of tape will also work. Some times a slightly wet & warm washcloth works too.

Those pet hair rollers are great. If you don't have that you can use masking tape or scotch tape, wrap it inside out around your hand. To help with the static rub the dress lightly with an antistatic dryer sheet.

    Good luck.

If there is a David's Bridal in your area, you can buy dresses right off the rack there! If there isn't one then you can try some other store like it. JC Penney and Sears sell prom dresses that look similar to bridesmaid gowns. Good Luck and Congratulations.

Try a lint roller, they're probably at Wal-Marts and Kmarts. They just have a sticky side and roll along things and pick them up really easily. You should probably get a small one to fit in your purse incase something else happens. Hope this helps. :)
