Which Diaper Genie is better?
For my baby shower, I got the 1st diaper genie and also got Diaper Genie II... which one is better.. ? also considering that I'm having twins. I saw that the 1st one is also more expensive.

I have the original one and I think it is great. It really does cut down on odor.
EDIT-As for the comment on grocery bags...done that. The nasty odor is still there, even when you put them in the garage. And seeing that summer is coming the odor is going to be awful with them sitting in the garage. At least with the Diaper Genie the plastic film eliminates most of the odor...just my two cents worth!

I have 20 month old twins. I studied up on these a lot! My friends all gave their suggestions and the best one is the diaper champ. It seals in smells pretty well and you can use any brand of trash bag. The diaper genie is a pain and those bags get expensive. It still smells a little too.
I stuck a baby lock on my champ (strap with adhesive that locks). Now my kids can't put their toys in there. Also, it's easy to clean or sanitize with those Lysol wipes.
I have to tell you that I keep a generic Ionic Breeze in my girl's room. When I get a really bad diaper or something smells I just turn it on for a few minutes. It clears those smells out fast! Then I turn it off so my girls don't get too much ozone in their room. I also use the Febreze air spray in there and all my bathrooms. It is the best. I do have my husband take the entire champ into the garage when he dumps it (about once a week). Then my house gets no smells from when he opens it!
I do keep an extra champ in the den area just in case. It gets a few diapers too. I hope this advice helps.

I agree with the posters who said not to use this!! I had it for my 1st daughter and it really just stank the joint up!! Just tie the diapers up in plastic shopping bags and make sure to empty the trash one or twice a day!! If you have TWO babies....you will be filling the Genie up TOO much to really be benefitting from the concept, anyway!
Return the item...or put it on Craigslist.....and use the money to buy diapers instead!!

Diaper Genies are a waste. The plastic grocery bags work just fine. I made a cute box from an empty tissue box that I've hung in my daughters room to hold the empty bags.
We do have a Diaper Champ, but only because we got it at one of our baby showers.

My diaper genie is the first one and I love it....I never have smelt diapers its worth the money and being a single parent you cant always go outside with a grocery bag

I have the first one and I used it for maybe 3 months...then I just started throwing them in bags from the grocery store as letting them pile up and then carrying out a giant sausage of diapers got old really fast!!! Plus you have to tie an end of the bag, cut the other end when full then tie shut...and sometimes the main end would come undone on me...dont get me wrong they are nice, but I think its much easier just to throw the diapers into old grocery bags!! Either way congratulations and good luck whichever one you choose!

Gotta add my two cents. Friends of ours have a diaper genie in their daughter's room and it always smells like poop in there. We use plain old plastic storage bags from Meijers. Tie them up and throw them in the regular garbage that goes out every two days. We never smell it!!

I used my diaper genie for 3 weeks now it is in my closet, with unopened refils. Just to much to hasle with. I could never get mine to work right. My sister couldn't get hers to work right all the time either.
