The first answerer means well, but he has no clue as to what you are asking. This equation is related to Carother's equation, which relates degree of polymerization of a step growth polymer like a polyester to the conversion of the functional groups. This particular equation is gives the weight average degree of polymerization as a function of conversion. This derivation is pretty long and complicated; however, T.
