How do I use the video codecs I downloaded?

I downloaded a video from a site but can't play it. I downloaded a video codec but I can't make it work. I downloaded Ffdshow all in one codec pack.

mostly the codec comes as a setup program in the form of an exe file. if that is not the case you will have to follow the codec specific help file.

if your video is not playing then what msg does it display?..it could be a corrupted file try downloading again.

you only need to download codecs if you recieve a codec specific error from the player. something like "codecs are missing ..etc etc"..if that is not the case then the file is corrupt or not encoded properly making itself unrecognizable to the player.

Just install the codec like what you did when you install your programs in your PC. After that, your PC should be able to view the videos, but of course, that is if the video is able to be viewed by ffdshow.

If you want a more comprehensive codec packs to view most of the videos offered, try to look for either Community Combined Codec Pack or K-Lite Codec Pack.

Be careful as these so-called free codec programs can contain trojans.

    Alternatively download VLC instead.
