bake roast 20 minutes per pound?

I need help. I am planning to bake a roast for Father's Day instead of the usual "taking Dad out for Dinner". I found a recipe for a 3 1/2 lb roast that says to bake 20 - 30 per pound. What does this mean? Do I multiply 30 times 3? for 30 lbs.? Thank you for any advice.

3-1/2 lbs times 20 min per pound=about 70 minutes,
That is usually in a pre-heated oven, Temperature is very important when using the temp, time method.
Most roast I have worked with use around 325 deg,f and the 20 min per pound will give a medium done roast.
Depending on type of meat, best to use a meat thermometer. pork should be about 165 to 180 deg beef can be anywhere between 155 to 185 depending on doneness desired..

It's 20 minutes per pd and you have 3 and 1/2 pounds. So it would be 3 x's 20= 60 minutes or 1 hour then 1/2 pound would be half of 20 minutes so an additional 10 minutes. Or 1 hour and 10 minutes to 1 hour and 45 minutes.

Multiply your roast weight, 3.30 wgt. x 30 min. per lb. = 99 divided by 60 min. in an hour= 1.65 hrs. = 2 hrs. & 5 min.

bake it for 1 hours and 10 minutes (70 minute) through 2 hours ( 120 minutes) there you go

i know that you bake a roast 1 hr per kilo gram, so whatever that translates into..
