What's the name of the suburbs in Nashville, TN?
My husband and I are looking for a good suburb that has great schools, low crime rate, accessible to hospitals, schools, malls, etc. and that is diversity-friendly. We are African-American. I would like to hear from people that live in the suburbs of Nashville, TN that could help me with my decision.

Personally, I would not live in North Nashville (Inglewood/Madison.) Maybe Hendersonville, but that would put you out of Davidson county. I have lived here and I know the whole area by heart. I would personally recommend Hermitage/Donelson/Percy Priest Lake/Airport area. You would be near great schools, Summit Hospital, and tons of restaurants, malls (Opry Mills/Hickory Hollow Mall.)
I personally live in Donelson. I'm 5 mins from Downtown (all of the large hospitals are downtown like Vanderbilt, Baptist, Centennial), I'm 5 mins to the airport, 3 mins to Opry Mills Mall, 5 mins to the lake, 10 mins to Wal-Mart... I can get to any interstate we have here in Nashville within 5 mins, that is 40, 65 and 24. There are great schools here too, we also have private school nearby, Christian schools too if thats what you choose. We also have lots of community things to do too. Parades, the YMCA is down the street, it is a quiet place to live. If you are interested in the area, zip codes are 37214/37217/37076. These are also low crime areas.
Good luck, and welcome to the area, you'll love it!

No, it's not true. Most "country music" coming out of Nashville isn't country at all. It's pop or southern rock. Shelby Singleton, who just died this week, produced a number of R&B artists in Nashville. So ALL music is available in Nashville. But given that Chicago is the home of blues, rock, and folk why would you leave there?
