Why does the gyno check your urine at your annual check up?

    protein, sugar or blood in the urine are signs of illness. It's routine.

    They are normally checking for signs of infection. Also there are very quick tests that can be done on urine to check the general health of a person.

    The urinalysis just checks some very basic things. A pregnancy test is NOT one that is done routinely.

    Not all GYN's do this, mine used to but doesn't anymore. My previous never did.

    Most gyn do dip stick urines to check your glucose and protein and bilirubin just to mention a few .This is routine and can help them when you are being examined if you should have complaints etc

    My Gyns have never checked mine so I have no idea.

    usually for bladder infection also pregnancy if you are on birth control nothing is 100 % safe
