Why is it so hard to find a singer?

Question

I've been working with some friends...we're writing all origional music. We have like 6 songs right now. I play bass...my guitar player and my drummer are awesome! But it seems to be a major pain in the butt trying to find some vocals! We played a show last month. Instrumentally of course...and everyone loved us! We have some great tunes. Anyone out there live in or near Western NY that wants to come sing some hard rock/metal music? Male or female...with your own lyrics...or we could write some. Open for suggestions! =) 

I has someone suggest putting up flyers in school. But, we're all past the school years. My guitar player was in a band for 10+ years...just couldn't tour with them any more. He owns a music store now...so he can't leave for weeks at a time. And, my drummer is in another band (they aren't metal...so we can't steal the singer.) We just want to play some local shows and have fun! It's just not the same when you don't have vocals! =)

Finding singers is always rough.  I have played music for close to twenty years now, I mostly do music writing on my own.  Singers are hard to find because no matter what you do they have the microphone and become the face of the band, so not only do they have to sing, but they have to be a good front man or woman, which makes it doubly hard.  Myself with the stuff I write I manage the best I can to sing myself now.  Not the greatest by any stretch but a little editing can go a long ways.  Hope you find what your looking for!

I was going to say a lot of people think they have a good 'ear' but don't. 
But with hard rock/metal - it wouldn't matter if the 'singer' can't carry a tune in a basket.
