Where can I get a government grant or loan that will help me get books and a pc or laptop?
I've heard there are grants like that for ppl going back to school and I'm planning on (finally) going back to school full time this september :). I'm going for computer networking, so obviously I need my own computer lol. Has anyone ever gotten one of these kinds of grants/loans?? Where can I apply? Are there books that will show me different loans like these?

The place to find a government grant or loan is by completing the FAFSA form. It is based on a percentage of your family's income and savings along with your income and savings with yours being at a higher percentage rate. It will come up with an EFC which is expected family contribution, and depending on the number, it will determine how much help you receive from the government and sometimes the college itself. I will include some free resources to locate money to attend college.
First, the college's financial aid office and website has a list of private scholarships offered from outside organizations and companies. Sometimes a college major's website will list scholarships, too.
Second, the public library has a book listing scholarships with some not even listed on the web.
Third, a campus work study job can help with money needed during the school year. The program is funded by the federal government. It will be a job on campus and most times can work to your availability schedule. There should be a box on the FAFSA form for it.
Fourth, fill out the FAFSA form after January 1 of prior to entering college. It will qualify her for need based financial aid from the federal government and the school itself. It will come in the form of scholarships, Pell Grant, student loans, and the work study program.
Fifth, some companies do offer a tuition reimbursement program. Check with your human resources office for more information.
Finally, I recommend joining several free membership scholarship search websites. There are scholarships for a variety of things including ethnicity, clubs, hobbies, and even wearing duct tape to the high school prom. Most are updated on a regular basis. Most offer a customized search based on information entered onto a form on the website.
Good luck!

Your first step is to apply for a FAFSA, which determines your financial aid ability. Virtually any financial aid program will require this. Then check with the college's financial aid office and see if they can set you up with some ways to research for these grants or loans. Yes, it is very acceptable to use loans and financial aid for any legitimate college expense.
I should know, I'm a mom who just finished my college degree.

I use to work in an agency that granted Housing and Urban Development Grants and those things are hard to get and have many strings attached to them, as they should. That man is a fake, fake fake. I wish that I could see you in person and tell you to your face, that man is a fraud.
