How can I pull my-self out of a sad mood that is bordering on depression?
I'm not sure why but for the last week and a hlaf I have been very sad and I can't seem to figure out why. Nothing has changed in my life and I love the people I have in my life, but there is this cloud over me and I can't shake the feeling of wanting to cry.

Girl, just cry, let it out if you want. Then try watching DVDs. Of course the funny ones that'll make you laugh. Wait, I also listen to sentimental songs which is an irony but i felt better. But if it doesn't, stick to watching funny movies or better--meditate. Hav time for urself, ALONE

I've been feeling the same way. Could you use a change in your environment? I am thinking of playing hooky one day and taking a day trip somewhere new. How about if you take a trip to another city to see a movie and do some shopping? Or you could take a walk in a neighborhood you've never been in before with a friend, pet, or just by yourself. I think that when our minds get caught in a rut like this, it is time for us to make some changes in our lives. Make a fresh start by giving yourself something to look forward to. Plan a trip, start a journal, write an old friend, etc. Do something different or maybe even change your routine a bit.

Many people I know who suffered from depression, went out and volunteered at some place like the food basket, or soup kitchen, the hospital, nursing home, whatever. That gave them some eye opening perspective, and gave them a reason to get up and get going each day. Just a thought. Hope this helps, because depression is not any fun, and believe me, I know. Thank God, I got help and am doing really well now.

this is the way I see life, I think ok, the past is the past... I have had some serious sh** go on in my life, but you know what. Life goes on.. there is nothing I can do with what happend before. What I can do is be positive and strive to be a better person each and every day. You know we all get sad at times.. but, whenever I get really really sad.. I cry by myself, or I dance that song "I am a maniac" shaking my whole body, while looking at myself in the mirror.... u might think that this is silly, but hey... it works... and that is what counts.. if you think that this situation or whatever is making you upset.. seek God... ask him .. pray with such faith

Get out in the fresh air, get some sunshine, walk around the block and get the endorphins flowing. Watch a funny movie, listen to some happy music...
I do know exactly what you feel like...and these are all cures that work for me...and if the sun is not out and about, I will go to a tanning booth, but you have to be very careful with that, since they can be bad for you too if taken to an extreme.

Exercise is always great, but the best way to help yourself is to go to church... I have been in that deep dark place, I am not a "Holy Roller" at all. But I do know that when I read the bible, I mean really read it to "Get It", I get a really good feeling. You should also pray and you need to mean what you say. If that doesn't do it for you then you should talk to someone about how you feel and maybe go to the doctors if you are one that is okay with taking medication to help with your moods, then try that. I am not one that likes the medications for mood enhancers, but one needs to do what is best for them. Who is anyone to judge.

Hi there I know how u feel lassie with my daughter being away from home n being worried about her I find myself being very depressed lately too so Here's what I do ...I usualy read a book I like alot or do something nice for other's like help out at the library or the spca or help clean your city's square if u have one or go out n buy yourself something you've been wanting a long time as long as it in ur price range..good luck hope you cheer up soon.

Depression can result from many different things (I know, I suffer from it). One of the truly best cures for depression is diet and excercise. If you go to the doctor, that's the first thing they tell you for everything.
Failing that, maybe seeking help from friends or a counselor could get to the root cause of your sadness. If it's truly sadness with no cause, it may be a chemical imbalance that's easily treatable with medication. There are TONS of new meds to choose from.

maybe you ought to just go ahead and cry for a little while. it releases toxins and so must be good for you.
if you were here, we could go for a long walk and talk about everything. I could use the exercise. since you are not, maybe you can get busy getting out and about and getting some exercise.
I hope these things help. It's best if you can shake it yourself without having to resort to medications.

well..I had the same problem...for ...about 7 weeks and today i figured it out...when u have nothin to do..think of the enjoyable things..u feel like nothing is good? well...u have to see through the problem..if it`s something different I don't know but if u don't know what to do with your life ...well....This is the way i got off with it..: I kept repeating to myself: LIfe is not fair for doing this, it`s not right to be left whitout meaning..and if life`s not fair...u have to get ambition,the ambition to smile and get something to do..u have to be good at something..and if life givees u a kick ..take the chance to kick life back!...hope it helps ..now get the smile on!
