Dexter is schedualed to be released by showtime on 8-21-07. Not to advocate what some may consider stealing, but you can get the whole first season as well as some extras (podcasts, wallpaper, etc) if you download it from torrentspy.com.
As far as the show, I too was expecting something a little different. Though personally, I found the charector to be more similar to the American Psycho type of personality than anything else. Good overall though. Worth the watch if you're a fan of dark drama comedy.

I loved it; the dark humour, the characters. It was great. All 12 episodes of it. I have no idea if it's available on dvd.

Ummm.... it's okay.
I think I was expecting someone more like Hannibal Lektor, and we ended up with a really weird guy.
The serial killer the Carver from the Nip/Tuck series was actually more interesting to watch.
