I lived in Orlando for 62 years, mostly close to downtown, then to Pine Hills area, then South Orlando, but never that Far West. I did venture out in the area in my travels while working. I would prefer just a little farther South, like Windermere. Out around Lake Butler or somewhere on that chain of lakes.
You might consider Oakland or Montverde. There are many older houses in that area. Your children would be restricted to West Orange County schools. You really should consider going farther West into Lake County. At least investigate Lake Countys schools.
Think about Celebration down Kissimmee way. At one time the children of Celebration were not going to be bused out to lower quality schools. Again I would investigate this. Celebration is anything but cookie cutter, their style is trying to get back to where homes used to be arrainged.
