Depends where you drive. 2 is better for going up hills, but D is probably better in general, depending on how fast or slow you go (the slower the better, for 2) . At higher speeds, driving in 2 will keep your RPMs high, using more gas than D, and if you don't need the power, is a waste of gas and a wear on your engine/transmission.
If your tach is 3k RPM's or more when running in 2 around town, I'd say that you're driving too fast for 2, and should be in D in regards to gas consumption and wear on your engine.

Some experts, when the first 4 speed auto's come out, suggested that you drive in third in 60kmh and under areas, and drive over 60.
theory was that 4th gear was an overdrive, and driving in this gear at low revs caused damage???????????
Well now we have 5 speed auto, so what do you drive in at 60 kms an hour???????????
The old 3 speed auto should be driven in drive at all speeds.

Well if you plan on driving more than 20 miles and hour then you should definitely drive in D. Driving in 2nd gear will make your engine and your tranmission run hot if you drive too long in it. In other words you could do damage to your cars' engine and trans if you stayed in 2nd over a period of time.

D is drive if you have D and [D] drive around town in D. If there is only one D, drive in it. 2 would be second gear and will kill your gas mileage along with your transmission. If it is always in second, it will cause unnecessary heat in the transmission and that is bad!

You should leave it in 'D', but if you start to lag going up a hill, etc you can use kick-down or put it in 2 depending on your speed.
But what you should really do is get a manual transmission car! :D

drive in d itll save you gas, unless you have a speeding problem then it will limit how fast you can go if you do then 2 is for you lol

ALWAYS in D, except going down a mountain road, towing up a mountain road if you can't make it in D, and sometimes starting out in snow.
