Why is it, if you accidentally nuke a spider in your microwave, it dies?

But if you try and nuke ants - on purpose, mind you - the little bastards won't die...

Update:

The ants and the spider got into the microwave on their own but I didn't mean to nuke the spider. The ants, yeah, I did mean to nuke them because there were so many of them and I thought it would be easier to clean the microwave with them dead.

Accidentally? How did a spider get into your microwave accidentally, but ants were there on purpose?

I can only guess that , being larger and more mobile, the spider would have been in, or moved to, a "hot spot". Microwaves are not evenly dispersed within the oven, that's why most have the rotating plate. The ants may have been in a cool spot, and would survive for longer. If you were using a rotating plate, then I can't explain it, they should have been toast eventually.

You're literally boiling the spider's insides--don't nuke them too long or they'll explode!
