Codecs for Media Centre?

Im trying to play a video in media centre, but it says it doesnt have the right codec. I downloaded this for Media Player and it works fine. Is there a way to update codecs for Media Centre or am I stuck watching videos on my PC monitor?

VLC can normally open any file if WMP cannot.
