I don't imagine the current specs for an average laptop could properly handle running the Sims 2, although I have one that runs Guild Wars just fine (albeit, GW is less demanding.)

The only things anyone could suggest is lowering the graphics inside the game. Things like Object Detail, Reflections (in mirrors), and Smooth Edging will kill the FPS. Try bringing those all the down and see if it runs any better. Try turning down some of the Lot View options under Game Options, too. These options are for how far you can see into neighbouring lots and really all they do is slow down the game.

And also make sure you're not running any resource hungry programs in the background. If your graphics are low already and it still runs slowly, you'll probably need to upgrade your laptop for it to run smoother, although I'd suggest playing on a desktop. :D

right click your desktop----> personalize-----> display settings-----> advance settings-----> look at where it say "dedicated video memory" if its more than 64 MB then you're good to go
