If a recipe calls for a 3 or 4 quart slow cooker can i use a 6 quart slow cooker. Should i alter the recipe.?

it seems that some recipes don't say anything about the size of the cooker but the recipe book that came with it has instructions like "Place first 6 ingrediants into a 3 or 4 quart slow cooker"

When it calls for a certain size pan it is their way of letting you know that the item (s) being prepared will not fit and or cook properly in a smaller size unit.

Do not alter your recipe, cook as instructed in a larger pot/pan and enjoy.

Yes, you can use the 6 quart slow cooker, no need to alter the recipe. I use my slow cooker all the time, for just about every meal!! Can''t live without it!

Yes, you can use a 6 quart slow cooker. However, if the temp is on high, the cooking time may be shorter.

I have the same Dutch oven and I braised short ribs in it a few weeks ago. It worked great, and I seared my ribs and added them to my veggies, wine and stock. I think it took about 4 hours to get very tender. I cooked it on med-low heat with the lid slightly ajar so the stock could reduce and concentrate. You should have no problem.
