I have a 6 month old Basenji and every night at around 9pm - 11 pm,?

he will start running around the house like a wild dog, and if you try to pick him up or pet him he tries to bite you. He has even drawn blood a few times. Why is he doing this and is there anything I can do to make him stop?

When they are puppies they get really excited.. and sometimes they will run around the house and be all wild.. the only way to stop him is really to say stop then if he doesnt spray him with water and then when he learns what the word stop means and he does stop give him a treat and he will then learn it is a good thing to stop when you say stop.

My dog is 6 years old and has always done this at night. I guess its just a burst of energy!

If hes trying to bite you when you touch him, just ignore him. Eventually he'll get the point and stop doing it.

Try to walk him around 7-8pm and that should tire him out. (not a long walk, his joints are still growing a bit)

    Hope that helps!

Well, since he is young and he still gets tired quickly at night you need to put him to bed in a kennel before 9:00pm, because the most likley reason he is doing this is because he is sooooooooo tired that he goes crazy! my puppy did this when she was that young and today she turned 1 yr old! so anyway just make sure you put him to bed at a regular time every night before 9!
