My lap top suddenly will not accept my password how do i get in?
I live in France and I am American. My sister bought me a HP lap top at Best Buy over a year ago, and brought to me in Paris on one of her visits, as I need a qwerty keyboard with American applications. The warranty is expired. I called Best Buy and a technician told me to press F5 and blah blah blah, reset password, but it didn't work. My daugther was playing checkers on it last, and when I went to login, it would not accept my password. It is now collecting dust. My husband took off the keyboard as he thought maybe the letters were registering wrong or sticking, but nothing changed. I have a another lap top now (ordered qwerty version on Dell) but it seems a waste to throw out the HP. Any advice?
Thanks so much, Wendy

google reset xp password
there are free utilities that will make a bootable cd image to reset hte nt ( nt. 2000 or xp ) administrators password
the problem is you need to get into the BIOS of the laptop to make sure the boot order is CD first, then the hardrive
also you'll need another computer to download then burn the small cd image
once you do that you can boot and reset the password to nothing ( best bet )
later once inside of windows yopu can reset the password

Restart your computer and when it first turns on, press F8 repeatedly till the boot menu appears. Select "Safe Mode". When the user selection screen appears, there will be an Administrator option with no password. Click it and when everything loads, go "Start", "Control Panel", "Users", and reset the password to your account.

No there is not any longer. The battery could desire to be a button battery on the motherboard and verify the main significant battery and plug is off while doing this. As to take the laptop aside you may could desire to seek for advice from the laptops Manuel from its manufactor's website.

In the bottom of your keyboard on the left you should have a key that says Fn or FN.
Hold it in while typing your password.
Voila~!
