Why do you think people are so into the supernatural? And if your not then why do you hate it?

People believe in stuff like that because they'd like to believe there's something out there that's more than they are... Vampirism would be a good example of such a thing. The only problem is that there's not a lot of evidence to support the notion that there are Vampires who practice blood-letting rituals. Having studied this subject some, there are a few names that come to mind when blood-letting and Vampirism come into line together:

Vlad "Tsepesh" Dracula-- also known as "The Impaler" for his ruthless pursuit to end criminal activity in his kingdom. Anyone found guilty of any crime was impaled upon a sharpened pole... sometimes. they were even impaled the long way, depending on how cruel he was feeling, or on the severity of the crime.'

Elizabeth Bathory, also known as "The Blood Countess", is another name that comes to mind; the difference being, that she believed bathing in the blood of human beings kept her young. As far as my study went, she wasn't a blood-letting sort of Vampire, she just bathed in the blood.

Gilles de Rais is another name that has come up in study for Vampirism. During the early 1400's, Gilles was accused of kidnapping several boys and for practicing Alchemy and Magic, which wasn't unusual at the time, especially considering he came from a wealthy family, and that's what wealthy families did back then.

During his trial, he was tortured into confession, where he admitted that he had kidnapped the boys, tortured them, drank their blood and killed them. he was executed in 1440, and his body was burned to ashes.

So, as you may be able to tell, my belief in such things is pretty stong, although no one ever hears about someone being found in a ditch somewhere with bite marks on their neck, having been drained of blood. That's about the only SNAFU that makes blood-letting Vampires hard to hand any credit to.

I could keep going with this subject for a while, but I'll just end my tirade here, by stating that the Supernatural is something that's all around us, whether we believe in it or not; the same argument can made with religion, and that's something I tend not to put much stock into. Call it a personal choice, I guess.

I don't believe, but I don't hate it either. I think the stories speak deep to our souls about human problems, wishes and desires. Take vampires. What fun it would be to live forever! But, nothing in life is free -- would you take immortal life at the cost of having to be a hunter and exploiter for the rest of your life? The lessons you learn from thinking about this can apply to other areas of your life -- would you take a million dollar job at the expense of having to be an exploiter?

It's other, but it's us too, at the same time.

The thing is, in a good supernatural story, things are balanced. The good guys win, the bad guys lose. It would be so nice if it was that way in real life.

People are fasinated by possiblities it is the reason some watch the SCI FI channel or watch Charmed, or read Ann Rice.

We all know that it is inevitable that we will die we just don't know what happens. When a love one dies it is hard and in most cases we miss them deeply. Some of us turn to a clairyvoiant or the supernatural to apologies or to get the chance to say good by if the death was unexpected.

Then there are other's who enjoy spooking themselves by going to known haunted places.

Then there is our scientist who need tangables(facts and formulas) logic and reasoning is what drives them.

BTW I find it interesting.

I don't hate people who believe in silly things.In fact,they interest me.What is that makes people block out the real world?Dismiss the wonders of reality.Believing the most ridiculous claims and ideas you can think of.It's fascinating,I'm amused and saddened at the same time.I enjoy pointing out the silliness of it.If someone catches on and sees reality I'm happy for them.

Some people are just craving for a break from the mundane. Science Fiction / Fantasy sort of topics give them just that. It gives people who are bored with normal life something to think and dream about.

I think that the dark sensuous nature of vampires will make them attractive forever. I don't believe in them but I don't hate those who do believe.
