Is this a mixed breed or what?

I found a dog today, on the way home via the back roads. She is the size and color of a Jack Russel Terrier only she has longer silky hair like a golden retriever has. BUT she is small like a Jack

Russel. Is there such a breed or is she mixed yah think?

Anyway I am keeping her because it took me 30 minutes to shampoo all the fleas off of her. I took the tarter off her teeth. I cut a gazillion mats out of her ear and belly hair. She is sparkling clean now, vet appt. at 6:30, both my other dogs get along well with her. And my fience is going to kill me when he gets home.

Update:

Besides, who ever "owned her" before doesn't know how to care for a dog. No collar either.

Update 2:

Went to vet, no chip. She is 4 -6 years old. Got her a rabies vaccine and tested for heart worms. Got her Interceptor. Vet has never seen her before and he is less than 1 mile from where I found her. Neither has the vet from about 7 miles away. Area shelters haven't heard a word of a lost dog who fits her description.

Will wait 2 weeks before I have her spayed, in case I see a poster.

So note to people calling me a dog thief. Do not judge, lest yee be judged (or something to that affect).

    Hi,

If she's small and you think she's a terrier you may be right. There are Silky Terriers, Yorkshire Terriers, could be one of them. Sounds like she's been on the streets awhile with all that you had to do. Good Luck.

That's nice of you to take her in, but if you don't notify your local animal control that you found this dog and take it in to the vet to scan it for a chip then it is illegal and called "Dog Stealing". The dog may have been in bad shape from being lost ( it doesn't sound likely in this case), she may have been stolen from the real owner. Collars and tags sometimes get separated from the dog for various reasons.

Don't assume because you found her in bad shape that she had a bad owner. She may have someone heartbroken and looking for her.

Everyone should microchip their pets and register with the chip company. If you don't register, the chip is useless.

    I think she's a mix for sure.

Thanks for taking her in, I'm sure your fiancee will understand.
