I need to know how to make a rhombiscosadodecahedron:-)?

Yes, I spelled it right. I'd like some extra credit in geometry. The current extra credit opportunity is making a rhombiscosadodecahedron out of poster board.

I can't even pronounce the thing, but when I look it up on the internet I can't find directions on how to make it. All I can find is people selling them.

So if anyone could help, or tell me where to look, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks!

~Missy

Update:

K so maybe I did spell it wrong....oops:-)

Anyway, the correct spelling is as follows:

rhombiscosadodecahedron

Heres a PDF that may help you out. Just read through it and look at the illustrations, that should help get it going for you.

For the faces you will need these depending on the size you are making Great or Small.

    Great rhombicosadodecahedron:

    12 Decagons, 20 Hexagons, and 30 squares

    For a Small rhombicosadodecahedron:

    12 Pentagons, 20 triangles, and 30 squares.

The illustrations on the PDF should help you figure it out from there.

    Good Luck!

    Great Rhombicosadodecahedron or Lesser Rhombicosadodecahedron?

The picture is pretty self explanatory, PROVIDED you know how many degrees to make your angles. The formula is:

(n-2)/n*180 = degrees per angle in the polygon where n is the number of angles (or vertices, or sides)

For example, a triangle has 3 sides, so an equilateral triangle has 3 60 degree angles.

A square has 4 sides, so it has 4 90 degree angles.

A pentagon has 5 sides, so it has 3/5*180 = 108 degrees, etc.

Every side has to be the same length. For example, if the squares in your Great Rhombicosadodecahedron have 1 inch sides, so do the pentagons and triangles.

Just leave some tabs extending from each side so you can glue the different shapes together as pictured.
