You can download a free TRIAL of Microsoft Office 2011 from: But, when it expires, you WILL have to BUY it to be legal. Open Office 3 is free and compatible with MSO 97 - 2011, once configured correctly, from:

Microsoft Office is sometimes available from Microsoft for free at one of their conferences. Check to see if they're coming to town and go. That's how I got Office for free.

2: The next cheaper way is to buy it via an MS Developer. Check around with your friends and workers and see if they know one. Microsoft sells them Office at cost, so the cost would be around $20.

3: Buy a student version. Most college bookstores can sell you Office at a reasonable cost.

Microsoft office is not free. You can try OpenOffice or one of the Web-based office solutions. I have a brief review on them here:

Nowhere unless you dowmlaod the Office 2007 trial version from Microsoft.com or get a bootlegged copy which may or may not work properly and could mess up your PC.
