Problem with girlfriend getting pelvic exam?

My girlfriend has had a few kidney infections, and the doctor wants to do a pelvic exam and scope. I don't know why, but the thought of the entire thing makes me sick, and want to cry. It just seems so invasive and wrong. If she has it done, I don't know if Ill be able to deal with it. It just seems so wrong to me.

Does anyone else share my opinion? And what can i do to get over this??

What can you do to get over it- grow up!! It's not like they're scoping YOUR butt or something.

Do you even understand where the scope is going? It will go into her bladder. It doesn't hurt, I have had it done. A pelvic is done every year for every woman to test for STDs, and cancer.

If you want her to not have this issue, then don't have sex with her. Your technique is probably causing her to get the bladder then kidney infections.

When you reach 40 an MD will be sticking his finger in your rectum to check the health of your prostate.

Offer the girl your support, take her to the exam and then be there for her after.

Good grief, what will you do when the woman has a baby? THAT is invasive and painful.

Having the pelvic exam is the only way she can catch all kinds of different cancers. Will the thought of her dying from cancer make you sick and want to cry. I thought so. Grow up.

umm i would suggest that you get a grip seriously!!!! It is important that woman gets pelvic exams to check for cancer or other life threatening problems!! I'm sure your girlfriend isn't thrilled at the idea especially if this is her first you should be there to support her!! what are you gonna do when your wife has a baby?? you do know that's where they exit from don't you??

you know from past exp. its not like females enjoy having this done and for the ones that decide if they want to have children then this is a must tp get used to .. What you can think of is a positive situation like yes they can figure out why she is getting this done and go on with it. Its not like it is a pleasure thing for anyone. Its life to fix problems or situations. Alrighty. Think of it as her being healed like a cold

Why don't you go with her and see for yourself (as long as she doesn't mind). It's no big deal. The doctor sees hundreds of paitents every month. Your gf has a medical condition, for goodness sakes, she needs to go ASAP. Overall good health comes before anything and everything. Her health comes before your insecurities. Sorry to be so harsh but it's the truth. You really need to get over it.

I don't know what you can do to overcome this, but I do know that others feel that same way. My dad doesn't like the idea of my mom going and getting it done because he says it is a way for doctors to get a free look.

Are you kidding? This is a medical concern, and you want her not to do it because you have "issues" with it? I hope she is fine medically and after her tests are done that she finds a better boyfriend. You obviously are a pretty selfish person.

And in case you didn't notice, no, I don't share your opinion, you self-centered child. Grow up.

If you have a problem with THIS--believe me, you have others. I work in the medical field & people with clothes ON look strange to us. If you think any of that has emotional meaning to us....pardon me, but your insecurity is showing.

Typically, it's only the doctor, and the patient in the exam room.
