Does it ever bug you, when people say they are poor/broke but they have a cell phone, Internet, cable TV, etc?

all they do is complaine, and ask you for money?

I don't out right just judge people myself. You never really know all the circumstances. I suppose some people can be like that. Obviously you have had personal experience with someone asking you for money yet they always complain even on top of having all those things. Some of the circumstances for a really great example is mine. I wouldn't consider myself having all that I want, however, I am not out on the streets either. I have a daughter who has to have access to the Internet because of her school work. But, I have only dial up service. Where I live I have to have a phone. Because of what my husband does we have to have a cell phone, and it's prepaid only. I don't have cable. We live paycheck to paycheck. However, my family's needs are fulfilled. I couldn't care less if we ever get to go out to eat or go to the theater. We have learned to enjoy the simpler things in life. Spending time with each other and enjoying each others' company no matter where we are or what we are doing. In that sense, I do not consider myself poor at all.

Oh, even better, I really hate it when people on Social Services complain that they don't have enough money to smoke. That one just galls me. I do not like it when people say that they have no money to live and they have all the creature comforts. How much brain power does it take to realize that these are NOT the necessities of life.

If you genuinely do not have the money to make it from month to month, then it is a good idea to plan a budget and stick to it. Get those little extras when finances allow.

The next time one of your 'poor/broke' friends come crumbing for money ask them this, 'What are you going to do about that?' Don't give away your hard earned money, because for certain, they will not pay you if they have other more pressing and urgent debtors.

I believe a lot of the problem is the feeling of entitlement that so many people seem to have now, coupled with expectations of instant gratification. Fewer and fewer people seem to be happy with what they have, they're always feeling sorry for themselves because they don't have bigger, better, newer, more. . .

It's really sad, because it's when you've worked, planned and saved for something that you really appreciate it.

So yes, it bugs me, but in a way I figure I'm better off. While I know that a lot of those things are fun to have, I also know that none of those are what I need to be happy. Not everyone knows that.

I am poor and have not got much money! I have a little money left over each week! Not much! I can pay the bills! Buy food~ then all the rest goes for gas! About 75.00 a week for both cars! Then when something like the washer breaks i have not got enough money to fix it! Then we have to buy like 4 yearbooks etc., at school that is over about 125.00! So when I say I am poor I mean I pay the bills, get food, but have none left! That is why I am going to work at JCPENNY tomorrow! 6.50 is better than not having any money at all! It is hard with 4 kids! I was not telling a lie! I dont even have 1.00 bill only change in my purse! But....if I had money I would buy LadyLinda some chocolate! AMY

Yes, it does. I'm not poor, but I don't have a lot of money, so I still have dial-up service, no cell phone, and rabbit ears for free T.V. I can't afford the extras, so I don't have them.

I laugh at those people. I made a personal choice a long time ago that my kids would better benefit from me and my time more than the crap a high paying job would buy them. So far I am prooven right....stand one of them up against another kid and see what real values are.

People that are truly poor and broke have to make many sacrifices, such as giving up their cable tv, internet, long distance, etc. I've been homeless before, and I really appreciate all that I have now, and feel very lucky and grateful to have regained what was once lost.

OMg! You've met my sister!!!!!! Did she ask you for money too??

Get this.. what they make in a week I make a month! She's got a brand new T.V. (big screen), Internet (brand new computer, and a desk to go with it), brand new car, and TODAY she called and asked if she can borrow 300 bucks cause she can't make the rent!!!

I'll probably lend it to her.. I know, I know, but I love my sister and the nephews and AWESOME LITTLE PISTOL niece she gave me... I'm a sucker!!!!! Just lick me!!!

What they probably mean is that their cash flow is kinda slow, know what I mean?

In simpler words, those people have got everything they need on a material level but their wallets are empty...

I think we've all met people like that, haven't we?
