A motherboard will have has many as it has. Can be 0-7. Normally is 2-4.
There is no way to add additional PCI slots.
If you are out of PCI slots, you may want to see if you can replace one of your current PCI cards with a USB device that does the same function.

The newer boards have 2-3 PCI slots. You can buy a PCI controller card and expand one slot to two possibly... but you shouldn't need more than 3 slots. There's also the PCI express 1x slots which are new.

From one to 7. SFF systems have one, big motherboards made just before PCIe had 7.
7 PCI slots = http://www.ieci.com.au/products/Product_Page2.asp?...
Can't increase the number of slots. You would need a motherboard with the right amount of slots. It might be a good idea to consolidate stuff. Excessive add-in cards can cause the inside of your system to heat up a bit and restrict airflow.

The number of PCI slots depends on the manufacturer. Three or four is pretty common in a regular desktop computer. And no, you can't increase them.

I ama MCSE and A+ tech, and depending on the age of the board, older ones might have up to 4-5 and some will have ISA slots, not used much or at all anymore.
Newer boards, have 3 plus a PCIe or AGP, as most have some of the componants intergrated, like sound and NIC. Try to get one that will accept the newest high power memory, and a processor variance up to 3.5 to the new 4.0 coming soon, and SATA is the new HDD word, so make sure you can upgrade and expand as much as you want.
