Why do people send spam emails that make no sense?

I can understand why people would try to get you to buy something or even trick you into giving out your credit card number. But I get LOTS of emails that are just a bunch of meaningless phrases. Why would someone send these? And why so many of them?

People don't mail these spams out "by hand;" they write computer programs to mail them out in bulk. They include snippets of conversations which are usually lifted from some text-heavy page on the internet, but sometimes created by a program to emulate speech, to fool spam filters into thinking the email is legitimate mail and not spam. Usually they attach a picture with the real ad to this; your spam filter may be blocking you from seeing these, without you even realizing it. And they just need you to mess up one time and think it's some weird email from a friend or coworker to get personal information from you. The more they send out, the better their odds.

It's all about sparking your curiosity. For instance, if I sent you an email saying, "Free mortgage information" you would be like, "I don't want this crap and then delete it" However, if I sent you something with a random heading your curiosity would spark and you will be more likely to click and see what it is. It's all a marketing ploy.
