Your question just reminded me of a song that i love very much called "Iris" by The Goo Goo Dolls...there´s also a lyric in that song that says "If everything´s made to be broken, i just want you to know who i am"....and well, i do believe that everything is fragile...more fragile than we might even realize and so the possibility for breaking is always there...but if you work really hard to maintain whatever you´re trying to hold on to...be it a friendship, relationship or a dream....it´ll never be broken so long as you keep giving it life....

That reminds me of Iris from Goo Goo dolls...I think it is just so we learn to appreciate things and people to the fullest while they last and also to learn to detach from it at the same time...! That is the Zen way about it!
