Like ticks on a dog, are humans the parasites of the earth?

Well we as a species have to get away from this foolish greedy behavior as soon as possible before we run out of the things we require. If we switch over to using only renewable resources, and then renew them fast enough and in large enough quantities to meet future demand, while conserving those resources as much as possible by using them as innovatively, efficiently and wisely as we can at any given moment in time, then hopefully, eventually, all people will AT LEAST have the resources they need to live long and happy lives. We would of course have to do it in an environmentally and economically sustainable way and we obviously also need to slow down the growth of the population as much as possible, unless we find or make new places for billions of people to go.

Ok well it is very important first of all is to determine if they are in fact fleas or just little bugs that got on him while he was outside. My puppy had 2 little bugs on him that were identical, and I took him to 2 different vets (to get a second opinion) and both said he did not have fleas. So first thing to do is take the dog to the vet, since he'd know how to handle the situation best. Now as the tick and flea medicine being toxic, in the case of some of them this is true. They tend to not kill the fleas, but rather become a deterrent towards fleas to make them leave the dog. My advice is find a good vet, have him check out your dog, and have him suggest a non-toxic medicine. Then prior to buying it, do some research on the product and then show your mom and her boyfriend that even though some are toxic, this one isnt. This way you can be right and it makes you look like you know your stuff =)

I believe that things on earth were put here for our use, but not abuse.

I think we have long surpassed the abuse part. We take and create more for our convenience at the expense of the environment and we are quickly approaching the point of no return. The damage that has been done is all but irreversible. Now we are just trying to find ways to band-aid what we already broke.

So yes, I guess we have become the ticks of the Earth Dog.

I saw that cartoon in high school in about 1970. Mosquitoes building giant (to them) pipelines and cities on a sleeping person's finger tip. After their activity gets large enough to wake up the person, they are in trouble. It ends with the accusing finger of the person (or God) pointing at them as they pray for deliverance. Then one takes a swig of blood from the finger in the middle of the prayer and the credits roll. Probably that film would be to politically incorrect to get shown in any public school today.

Absolutely. If anyone has been to the state of florida lately you could see that economic development conquers all and that there is not an ounce of concern for the enviornment with respect to development. Hundreds of thousands of trees and natural habitats being destroyed to build townhouse complexes and shopping centers. there needs to be a balance between mixed use development and smart growth that allows us to conserve much more land than regular development methods. more communities should band together in the protection of local parks and open space and strive to protect natural habitats within the communities they live in. the path we are currently on in america is unsustainable, it reminds me of the slash and burn methods of hundreds of years ago. single family homes on 1-10 acres of land are in efficienct and require destruction of natural wildlife habitats all over the country. we as americans are being very socially irresponsible to request homes on over 100 acres for a family of three. instances like that do have harmful effects on the environment and strip the world of its natural resources. I do believe if we change are methods towards mixed use develiopment it would cut down on americas necessity for the automobile and allow smart community centers to emerge that make effective and efficient use of land and natural resources. the effects can be slowed and even reversed but we must stop what we are currently doing.

yes we are. due to the stripping of resources we have caused the extinction rate of animals to rise. The last time it was so high was when the dinos were dying off!!
