Breast milk always has nutritional significance. In fact, the antibodies actually get more concentrated after a year. I think your baby would be the best one to tell you when he/she can get what he needs from food, anywhere from 2-5 years of age is usually when babies wean themselves naturally.

Lots of people have strange ideas of how long breastfeeding is beneficial. I guess they assume that after the time is up, the milk turns to water and there are no benefits to gain. The AAP says that babies can get all their nutrition from food at one year. The WHO says not until 2 years. The benefits never stop. Ever.

Technically breastmilk doesn't lose it's benefits. But there is an age where children can get most of their nutrients from other sources. Really it is around a year (others may tell you sooner) As long as your baby still seems satisfied after a feeding of breast milk and you are still comfortable with doing it, then I say keep on. It's free food for your baby...nothing better than that right?

Breastmilk is always nutritionally beneficial... I would say maybe.. 5 or 6 years? Thats typically when kids stop *needing* milk altogether and so thats when they would stop *needing* breastmilk.
Up to 2 years is the minimum for ideal health though. Past that, its still very beneficial... but so far as everything i know, the first 2 years are the most important.

The first 6 months are critical for nursing. During that time your baby gets his immune system from your milk. It's full of antibodies and white blood cells, after that those immunities decrease, but it's still nutritionally superior to formula. If you're gonna breastfeed, at least give it 6 months!

Breastmilk always has nutritional significance as long as you are taking care of yourself. Of course if you are not eating well then your breastmilk isn't going to be as healthy for the baby. The 'experts' recommend breastfeeding for at least a year. You should do it as long as possible.

Babies need breast milk till they are at least 12 months and some new studies have shown that it is beneficial till they are 18 months.
I would at least do it for 12 months.
