Mavs rule asked in SportsBasketball · 1 decade ago

Should NBA do away with the conferences?

Should NBA do away with the conferences? Seems like the east with its subpar teams gets to coast through the playoffs until they have to play the western conference champs. The Western teams have to play harder during the season (they play more games each other) and through out the play offs. By the time they finally reach the finals they are exhausted, point in case Mavs last year. If you look at the record out of the six teams with 50+ wins only one was in the east. I think that the NBA should pair every team by their record, i.e. 1st seed plays the 16th seed, 2nd-15th, 3rd-14th and so on.

This way teams dont get rewarded or penalized for being in a weaker or stronger conference.

What do y'all think.

    Round 1:

#1 Dallas vs. #16 Orlando (Dallas)

#2 Phoenix vs. #15 Washington (Phoenix)

#3 San Antonio vs. #14 New Jersey (San Antonio)

#4 Detroit vs. #13 Golden State (Detroit)

#5 Houston vs. #12 Los Angeles (Houston)

#6 Utah vs. #11 Miami (Utah)

#7 Cleveland vs. #10 Denver (Cleveland)

#8 Chicago vs. #9 Toronto (Chicago)

    Round 2:

#1 Dallas vs. #8 Chicago (Dallas)

#2 Phoenix vs. #7 Cleveland (Phoenix)

#3 San Antonio vs. #6 Utah (San Antonio)

#4 Detroit vs. #5 Houston (Detroit)

    Round 3:

#1 Dallas vs. #4 Detroit (Dallas)

#2 Phoenix vs. #3 San Antonio (Phoenix)

    Round 4: The Finals

#1 Dallas vs. #2 Phoenix (Dallas)

It would look something like that but with no upsets, only the top seeds advancing to next round but you get the picture. I personally think San Antonio would win it all but i'm just going by seeds. And this is all going by regular season records, the best record with the 1 seed and the worst record with the 16 seed.

No. NBA is broken up into conferences and divisions for nation-states. go back and forth is intense priced and arduous to the gamers (quite lengthy flights), so the NBA schedules communities to play maximum of their away video games adversarial to communities who're geographically closer. it truly is also why the NBA Finals is a 2-3-2 format rather of a 2-2-a million-a million-a million.

I'd rather see them do away with the NBA, national basketbrawl association! If I want to watch a fight, I'll watch hockey. Somewhere around the time Shaq showed up, the ref's forgot it's suppose to be NO CONTACT.
