Or if you want a foto avatar - go to your profile, click "edit my info", set up a 360° page, load up a pic (it has to be a .jpg, preferrably 48x48 pixels), mark "set as primary", save it and you're done...

I think you are asking how to get one of the "pictures" there instead of the gray sillouette. Go to Yahoo Avatars, select your gender (male, female), then select hair style, clothing & accessories, etc. Then save your changes. Come back to Answers and click on your gray picture again, then select Edit my Profile. About in the middle of the page, on the right is Use My Avatar. Click on that. Give it a few minutes and your chosen avatar will appear.
