Low mileage problemin 1990 BMW 525?
Hello,
I have a 1990,BMW 525 it was giving me a mileage of 6.6 kmpl.I parked my car in my closed garage and went on a vacation for three weeks.No body had even touched my car during my absense.After i come back i filled up the gas(quarter tank was remaining the tank already and filled full) and starting driving.Now i am getting a mileage of not more then 4.8.It is really funny to say this.But it happened to me.
What could be possible reasons for this?
I live in Bahrain and I bought this car last year from an agent who imports BMW from dubai and i never changed my catalytic converter till now.My dash board warnings tells me CATALYST + OWNERS HANDBOOK when I start my car.By changing the catalytic converter any more mileage i can expect.
Your advices are appreciated.

the catalyst converter job is to purify most of the gases that your engine Emmit's, lots of cars live without it without problems other than more emissions which in case of old engine might not make it while testing by traffic authorities, what you should do is some maintenance to your fuel line, like adding injectors cleaners with the fuel, or to let your garage open them and cleans them, and also change your spark plugs, and let them adjust your air flow device, if this doesn't work you should check the engine computer, because maybe the part for fuel management system is having errors and it might need changing, it's not an easy job to recover fuel efficiency in BMW's

The M20 motor is a pig when it comes to gas mileage they used the same motor in the 325i and is and it was only rated 19-22 in a car that is a lot lighter then yours
