It sounds pretty small - hate to disappoint you, but have payed around $40 (New Zealand Dollars) for one quite a bit larger than that (45-50mm?) and that was from a crystal shop which had pretty much no competition (i.e. it would have been over-priced and I was aware of that at the time, but it was a gift for someone...)
I think there are loads about, but look around and see what similar ones are going for.

The rocks at Lyme Regis are full of ammonites fossils some reaching nearly 2m. in diameter. As they are so common their value is next to nothing unless they are in very fine condition and even then not very much. If your fossil is from Lyme Regis I very much doubt that the crystals inside are quartz, they are almost sure to be calcite.

The only place I could find ammonites for sale was on e-bay, I typed 'ammonoite' into the search bar and got 1004 results ranging in price from under 10 dollars(US) to over 900 dollars(US). I can't give you a link there without giving you access to my account. Sorry
Here is a google search for ammonite fossils

Hope this helps

Ebay is a good place to get quick general prices.
It will be impossible to price your piece without a picture.
