Do you live in the north where there is ice on the lakes for more than two months? If so you will most likely find only small fish as the larger ones will die of low oxygen levels first. If you live in the south, I wouldn't be suprised to find some decent sized Bass or panfish in them, but there is likely not a population of Northern or larger game fish. Start with live bait, nightcrawlwer, under a bobber. That will tell you immediately if there are panfish in the area, plus a bass or bullhead will like that presentation too. If you catch a Bass, experiment with some topwater, or a slow, shallow diver. If it is weedy, cast right on the edge and you should get results.

According to May 2007 Missouri Conservationist, page 16, landowners retain full rights to control access to their ponds and are not required to allowed fishing by the general public.

Dream on. You'll find yourself in hand cuffs so fast you can't believe it. They take trespassing very serious on private land. Plus you can be made to pay for damages to private land that your vehicle does. ie> tire tracks etc... If you ask the land owner he may or may not let you. Ask before even thinking about entering private land. Their are some that will let you fish with their permission, but keep in mind it is someone else land. Don't make a mess or leave a mess.

I don't know about Missouri but I can tell ya' that is a no, no elsewhere! Major reasons for stocking fish is for bug abatement purposes and or the landowners personal enjoyment...
