I would have asked the same thing . . but omited the last bit and rephrased it to say, do say it's because they are dangerous drivers!

its because these "people" if they really are people, feel that altho the road is straight, it may jus turn at 90 degrees within the 1 second wen the wiper goes back and forth. this is of course very likely especially on a motorway. maybe by going slower the rain seems lighter makin them happier, whereas us real drivers dnt give a rats **** bout how heavy rain is an motor along nicely at 90mph! anyway nice topic but some people will be crap drivers and there probably is no reason except for some surpressed feelings of anxiety brought about from some crazy incident in their childhood wen a car may have disrupted their thoughts when they hit a tree in the rain and were launched 50 metres out the front window! who knows....

i dun a 360 coming off the motorway slip road @ 80 in the rain it was hair raising but the car was ok thank god lol

Just at the start of rain the road is slippery, oil and dirt is on the road when its dry.The rain doesn't wash the road for a while, people should drive slower so they don't hydroplane

When stopping suddenly.Otherwise they can skid and

    wreck.

Agreed, 30mph may seem to be ridiculously slow, but have you ever aquaplaned and hit the back of a lorry?

I have and I most certainly don't want to repeat the experience.

    Better to arrive alive.

I agree with exactly what you are saying. I used to drive a Tesco van limited to about 50-55mph, and I could still overtake people like that. It is a little dangerous going that slow, moreso in middle lane.

cus the standard of driving in this country has gone down the drain---drive round London and have a look some time or try riding a motor cycle or a pedal bike

Its because they are not confident in their abilities and as such shouldn't be driving in the first place.

I believe that there should be a minimum speed limit on the open road (where the national speed limit is in force) of about 10mph less than the maximum.

Pay attention to Topgunto, he is spot on correct. People who think that that can drive as normal in wet conditions are the dangerous drivers!!!

Slam on your brakes (full) at 60 on a wet day, and see how long it takes you to stop. Sometimes at least double the normal distance.

Driving fast is fine...until when something goes wrong.
