Work Experience?

I'm 16 and currently at college. My dream is to become a journalist, yet due to my age I'm unable to go to any magazine or newspaper headquarters because of insurance issues. Where would you advise me to contact that has connections to journalism and would not mind my age?

Thanks.

Update:

I know that insurance is an issue because that is the answer to all of my letters.

Work experience in english colleges is a compulsory week out doing something related to the field of work you want to go into.

There are teenage journalists at newspapers -- they often write about issues affecting teenagers. What makes you think that insurance would be an issue? Also, you can write articles for magazines and pitch them like anyone else: they don't care what your age is if you can write decently.

Source(s): BTW, I was 16 and in college: good for you!

you are right, normally internships or serious jobs want older, experienced people... people who have a college degree, etc. For now, I would advise focusing on college, and dominating your campus paper, (if they don't have one, start one) and work to the top of that. I think having that will be even more impressive and give you and edge when you go job searching
