What do you do with your accumulated points? Just curious?

Just wondering the purpose of accumulating points.

Granted this is a great way to exchange ideas and find out what is going on in the world. But the point of the points is ............

Well, short of being able to ask and answer mroe questions...I think the points are just an incentive to participate. People are so competetive that I think Yahoo decided that by giving out points, it would make people wanna reach higher & higher levels.

Also, yesterday, when I clicked on my avatar to see question I had answered & asked, etc. I saw this ad for going green. You get an environmentally safe grocery bag when you get to level 2 & CFL light bulbs for a certain amount of best answers you give..thats is based on points. So, thats the only other use I have ever seen :o)

As of yet, I don't think there is any tangible "reward", but certainly there is the reward of being respected and known as you accumulate more points and such. Your answers will be regarded as more legitimate with the higher level that you are.

Long story short: there is no "Free Trip to the Bahamas!!!" if you get to level 7.

    ...legitimacy.

There is a feeling here that if you have "X" amount of points, you are amongst the elite of the Answerers.

Do my answers carry a greater weight because I am a Level 7, 87000 points and 27% Best Answer rate?

That is about all the points can do for you

As far as I can tell, the only thing that points do for you is allow you to ask or answer more questions per day.
