So you thought Big Brother was bad taste...?

How about the new Endemol production in the Netherlands that features a terminally ill woman and is called... wait for it ... "Who Will Win My Kidneys?"...

She has to choose from three transplant candidates and has the tag-line - "you can text her during the show" - eeuuhh!

Are the people who choose to watch this type of show even sicker than SHE (or Endemol) is?

Yes when I read about this I was like this can't be real! I can't even believe this show is being allowed to air on TV.

In defense of the show though, it may result in people becoming more aware of the extreme shortage of kidney donors, and thus sign up to become kidney donors themselves. If this does happen I suppose it can only prove to be beneificial. However, I don't think it will make a big difference in the long term. I reckon it will just spark a short term increase in donors among those who become emotionally affected by the 2 people who do not 'win' the kidney. Once the show is over, and forgotten about there will still exist the shortage of kidney donors.

Another concern I have for this show is that it will spark similar shows if successful - e.g. Who will win my bone marrow?

Yes we have a shortage of donors but I am sure there are more constructive and moral ways of increasing the number of donors than resorting to a TV show.

Reality TV producers have no morals, they have the foresight for only the next big thing to bring up the ratings and bring in the cash, it's the only language they know! Look at what happened to Shilpa Shetty!

Reality is crap crap crap - making celebrities out of brain dead morons and making it cool to be thicker than a redwood plantation; namely Jade Goodey, shes made millions for thinking IQ is a DIY store.

Whatever happened to good programs full of action and inspiration like the young indiana jones, the young merlin the wizard and putting some good old family films on instead of this dried up old carcass of reality TV.
