I did hear that mentioned here not too long ago. I think it's great for Canada that there is someone from there that is good enough to play for Bayern Munich and now Manchester United. It's too bad for Canada that he chose to play for England instead of Canada. He would have been a great addition to their player pool. They could have really used him. I can't really blame him for choosing England over Canada when it comes to national teams though. He'd have more international success with England than with Canada though Canada isn't that bad and are more like the US when it comes to soccer.

Hargreaves is a good, decent hard working player. He has been very unlucky with injuries since his transfer to united, but as a bayern player he bossed midfield. I'm not too sure if you can compare hargreaves and gerrard, as hargreaves plays as a defensive midfielder while gerrard would normally play (for Liverpool anyway) in the position off the striker. As for the world cup campaign Hargreaves did have a great tournament and England have the problem of the Lampard V Gerrard debate as both players are best played in exactly the same position so you are left with one of them playing out of position. In istanbul in 2005 it was gerrard that rallied around the team scoring the first goal and winning the penalty that brought it to 3-3, not to mention that FA cup final against west ham. If I personally was picking between the two players I would choose Gerrard.

Yes, the latest star in Sir Alex's array of stars is Canadian and always will be unless he does a Conrad Black or Lennox Lewis (both for financial and personal gain). At the present time there are, I believe, more than 12 Canadians playing in the English leagues and approximately 20 in Europe overall.

Ya Owen's been associated with England more than Canada. I knew he's canadian because he's been mentioned Canadian by several commentators.

Canadian by birth and English by heritage... he chose to play in Europe because obviously Europe is the hub of the best soccer in the world.. (no offense to South America) just a fact...

He was born in Calgary to English parents and grew up there and was scouted by Bayern Munich when he was 16, so he then lived on his own in Germany playing for Bayern till now so he hasnt actually lived over here yet!!
