I was told not to wear my contacts for 14 days before the lasik consultation.?

What if I wore them two or three times within that time? Would it make a difference in the test results? My glasses bother me. I get off balance sometimes because I'm not used to walking around in them and I don't see as well as with my contacts.

Update:

Goodness, thanks guys. I'm asking because when I made the appointment (national company) the appointment setter said that doctors in their different offices give varying requirements on the amount of days to go without the contacts.

Yes it could because contacts tend to change the shape of your eyes very slightly (The change is miniscule, but that's all it takes to be off on the measurements and make the wrong correction for the lasik surgery). It takes as much as 14 days for your eyes to return to normal shape, if you haven't worn your contacts during that time.

It might affect the oxygen levels in your eyes because they cannot breath as well with contacts as with your glasses. I would think that a couple times wouldn't make that much of a difference in the test results...but, I'm not a doctor either. Let your doctor know what issues you've been having. It sounds more like your glasses are the wrong prescription.

You should not wear them. Wearing the contacts has the potential of changing your eye even slightly. They don't tell you not to do it because they want you to suffer. There is serious medical reasons not to. Just try and deal with it for the two weeks. The end result will make it worth it

The doctor said not to wear them for 14 days, why would anything else be ok? If he wanted it to be for 5 or 7 or 10 days he'd have said so.

Yes. It can throw off the configuration of the lasers. Wearing contacts changes the shape of your cornea. Your going to have to wait more time and get another consultation. Or the surgery has a higher risk of going wrong.

DO NOT! Follow your doctor's advice .. Im sure he would not make you do anything that was unnecessary. If you want everything to go right and not lose your eyesight, I would follow his orders!!

honestly there is no harm adhering to the sipulated time to go off contacts..

it's a one off thing .. just do it to reduce any chances of complications
