Hello, I have a 95' Mazda 626. I got it used about three months ago. Everything was in good running order but
recently it started having a burning smell and now it started smoking lightly from the hood. When I looked there was oil all over my engine. What could have caused this and how much should it be to get it fixed? I had the oil changed as soon as I got it but had to change it again before its time for fear that it might be low/empty due to leaking. Can anyone offer some advice or a solution? Thanks

Did you take it to a reputable dealer for the oil change? Could they have done something stupid, like leaving the old oil seal on the filter? Regardless, you'll need to get rid of all that oil to see what's going on. Steam clean it, then start it with the hood open. Watch carefully for telltale signs. Somehow, the oil is being blown around by the fan. Check the valve covers, oil pan seal, anywhere that oil could possibly get through. But I'd REALLY look that filter over carefully.

it seems like your valve cover gasket seal is leaking if it is leaking right below the top cover or the oil pan gasket if it is leaking from under the engine. get them checked and replace the gasket seal. the gasket should be about 20 to 25 bucks or less for each gasket and labor should be about 30 to 60 bucks. depending on the mechanic. good luck. when you got your oil changed make sure the securely tightened the oil filter. if not it will leak badly. get it checked before you spend makjor money.

Keloids are pretty common, particularly amongst people with darker skin. At two and a half months, a scar is considered "old" - it is at about 95% of the maximum strength that the tissue will develop. You can always try this anyway, but if it doesn't work - talk to your doctor... there are other options available to get rid of it and make sure it does not return. Keloids, unfortunately, do not usually go away on their own - though spontaneous remissions have been reported. Good luck to you.

When you got it changed the first time they might not have put the butterfly's on properly. You might need a new gasket. I had one up until recently. you go to a competent mechanic who knows Mazda's. Could be the oil pan wasn't put back properly.

It is a twelve year old car. It needs the oil leak repaired by a competent mechanic. Gaskets fail and bolts loosen up. Get it fixed!
