PS2 and Guitar hero 2 or electric guitar?

get a guitar. i'm a guitar teacher and it amazes me that people will dedicate a ton of time to a video game that they'll stop playing in a year or less, and still wont be able to play actual music.

i work at a music store, and for around $200 you can get everything you need to learn to play, and if you take guitar lessons you can usually start playing ACTUAL SONGS in about a month. then anywhere you go for the rest of your life, if theres a guitar, you can play it for people, you can join a real band, you can write songs, you can play gigs, you can get paid, and you'll have fun.

i love video games, but Guitar Hero is basically just dance dance revolution for your fingers. the game doesnt resemble actual guitar, or give you any actual skills. now, i'm not saying that it isnt FUN, because i'm sure it is, but its not the same as having an actual skill that you can take with you forever.

i'm sure there will be a lot of people 5 or 10 years from now saying "i wish i'd have actually dedicated time to learning guitar, instead of dedicating my time to playing a pretend guitar video game".

It depends:

if you know all the notes to a guitar, you should by all means get an electric guitar! It is awesome, and makes great youtube videos. It makes any classical song seem like a rock song, with distortion. But, if you don't know the notes, then get guitar hero 2. It is very addicting, but not as addicting as the electric guitar. I want one so bad, but i bought a bass recently, and my parents dont want to pay for any more instruments for a while.

Get the PS2 with Guitar Hero 2. That game is my number one favorite by far. It's addicting.

I would definitely buy the 360. Then you could save up again to buy guitar hero and an electric guitar.

PS2 and Guitar Hero 2 because it is very fun and you can actually play it right..lol...its really fun

depends on what you want to do, if you just want to amuse yourself , get the video game. if you actually want to learn to play guitar and be able to do that for the rest of your life, get the guitar. i would go with the guitar, the game will get old after a while, once you learn to play a guitar for real, you can learn new songs and it never gets old. plus when was the last time a guy playing a video game had a groupie, lol

guitar. Guitar hero doesn't teach you anything really except to push the buttons. homer simpson can push buttons. guitar is more fun too. you ca do it until you lose your hands then your screwed. but just get a real guitar.

my son says to get the guitar hero 2, it is his favorite and loves to play it....

Guitars are louder (WITH A BIG AMP).
