Graphics cards?

I recently bought Command and Conquer 3, Tiberium Wars, for pc, and nothing but problems has followed. First, i needed a DVD drive, so i got one of those, now my video card is not up to spec, i have a dell 2400, and looked on their website, hoping to find a solution, i didnt. I have 3 PCI slots in my computer, and just about every graphics card (it seems) is PCI-E, or PCI Express. I cannot use this, but i need a nVIDIA GeForce 4 PCI graphics card. Any one have any suggestions?

Well you can try newegg.com. They have plenty of PCI only cards. The highest price I've ever seen on a PCI card is maybe $130. And thats an extremely low price for a card if you ask me. But get an ATI card. They have a good PCI card at newegg.

There's a difference between PCI and PCI-E cards.

PCI cards are sooo outdated, the last one I've came across was GeForce 2. Current generation of cards is PCI-E cards, and they do not fit into those PCI slots you're looking at.

Now from what I've search in the internet, Dell 2400 is a Pentium 4. So I'd say its certain that your motherboard has an AGP (either 4x or 8x) slot.

This is good news (if indeed your system is P4) then as AGP cards are still available in the market. Not GeForce 4, but you may find GeForce 6 or GeForce 7 cards. Take a look at GeForce 7600GS, they are one of the remaining easier to find AGP cards. And yes its good enough for that C&C 3 game.

Your PC has no fast graphics slot(AGP or PCIe). It is a good business desktop but would be miserable in new games. The PCI bus is too slow for 3D graphics. The PCI slot would just bottleneck/slowdown any good graphics card that you put in there.

Consider upgrading your motherboard to one w/ AGP or PCIe graphics slot to get awesome gaming performance improvement.
