I think i paid $300 for it and then every year you spend anoth $100 on CPR recert. (unless you work at a pool that covers this cost) But depending on your age, this is probably the best paying job available to you. One top of that I think it is one of the coolest. At 16 I was making $10/hour (far more than any of my friends) and my uniform is a bathing suit. To top it all off, I get a killer tan each summer.

In our area it is $200. If you go to work at the Y they will reimburse you after you have passed the course and show them your certificate.

The pay is not all that great but like another person said, you wear a bathing suit all day, you're out in the sun, rainey days off, no late night shifts, and it can lead to other jobs that pay better.

My daughter now teaches private lessons for $45 an hour. She teaches swimming from 4 yrs old to 80 and there is always a demand for swim instructors.
