if u look at the electromagnetic spectrum ,one of the members is infrared. heat emitted from the sun has a lot of IR.

most of the the lights ray are reflected back to space, but some of the part the reaches the earth heats up the earth.

The sun releases electromagnetic radiation off essentially all wavelengths (its peak is the yellow part of the visible spectrum, by the way). These photons strike atoms that make up the atmosphere (warming the air), the ground (warming the earth) and your skin (warming you). And yes, the earth reflects a lot back, and the upper atmosphere blocks a lot of the bad wavelengths, x-ray, gamma radiation, ect.

The sun gives off electromagnetic radiation which contains energy. When this radiation makes its way to the Earth, the energy is transferred to the Earth, heating it.
