You don't need your phone to send a text message. If you don't already have one, set up a free Yahoo email address. You'll be able to send a text message from there.

I don't know about email but if you have aol instant messanger you can type a plus sign and a 1 before the area code and number (+1) and send a message that way. They can reply there too. If you don't have it downloaded you can use aim express.

i dont think you have to do that with the @vtext.com thing you just need to type the area code and then the #. when they reply it will come up looking like an email address but you dont have to send it that way ...@ least i dont think so.
