When you get an intereview for a cosmetics counter in the mall, how does it go?

what is the interview like? any tips? what questions do they ask you? Also, what is training like?

If there are any women here who would allow me to email them through yahoo that would be really helpful.

thanks in advance

    Hi there!

I used to work for Revlon in England! So I can tell you from first hand experience!

    Interview tips

    1. If you have long hair - wear it up

    2. Wear subtle make-up - well applied (if you want you

could have it done at one of the beauty countersl

prior to your interview) - it would really give your

    cofidence a boost!

    3. No power dressing! - A neat suit navy or any dark colour

would be great with a crisp white blouse

    (No mini skirts!)

    4. A few days before the interview go to the counter

and pick up any leaflets etc. also any free samples

(Read the info and try the products)

    5. The art of good selling is easy if you are

    a. Enthusiastic

    b. Believe in the product

    c. Enjoy being a team player

    d. Friendly and outgoing

    6. It does help if you have had sales experience, and

    enjoy meeting people

    Things to say!

I am outgoing, a good communicator, not a nine to five

person, goal orientated (If I have a target I enjoy beating it!)Trustworthy, Honest, Reliable and Hard working.

Where possible give examples, and if you feel flustered or nervous do not worry! - most people are!

Just breathe deeply and give yourself time to think about the question and your answer

Above all A GENUINE SMILE! wins Interviewers hearts!

    What they ask!

How did you hear about the job?

What relevant experience have you had?

(Don't worry if you haven't worked on a Beauty counter!

Stress your skills in dealing with the public, and getting on with people!)

What makes you think you would be the right person for

    this position?

How flexible are you with working hours?

Do you have any dependants? (Small kids are a no no!

unless you have some child care sorted out!)

Do you use this brand? (It has got to be a YES here! and name a couple of examples - from those leaflets! - if you have never bought any before!)

    Training

I went to Revlon Headquarters in London for a week!

We tried out all the products - learnt how to do makeup

and facials. We learnt all about the range and were tested on this at the end of the week! and gained a diploma!

We had our hair revamped at Vidal Sassoon! in Bond Street(Best there was in my day!) - And had the most brilliant time ever!

This was in the late 80's and I have used Revlon ever since!

I have been a Store Manager, Area Manager, Personal Assistant to M.D. Retail Studies Lecturer - so my advice should be beneficial to you

    Good Luck at the Interview!

What line are you interviewing for?

My interview consisted of a makeup interview and a spoken interview. They asked a bunch of standard questions. "How would you handle...." and then asked a bunch of hypothetical questions. Some lines give you actual training, others do not.

I'm not a woman, but I am an artist for MAC. You can write me on yahoo at mes9202 if you have any questions.

They are really hard. They ask you what your style of makeup is, what you would recommend for brown skin, light skin, deep-set eyes, etc. The training isn't actually that bad. It's just the interview, where they make it really hard, because they need people who can handle demanding customers.
