Yeah, the Wii's original name was Nintendo Revolution but Nintendo changed the name to Wii because the console is for everyone. The name Wii is perfect for the Wii because its new and never seen in public until November 19, 2006 and Wii is an acronym for What Is It.

Before it was given the name "wii" it was called the "Revolution" which is a better name. But I don't really care about the name. It's a fun game system and that's all that matters.

  • "Wii sounds like 'we', which emphasizes that the console is for everyone. Wii can easily be remembered by people around the world, no matter what language they speak. No confusion. No need to abbreviate. Just Wii"

I think that naming the system Wii is innovative, just like the system itself. The "super duper" system naming has gotten a bit lame, as of late. Tossing a couple adjectives on a game system doesn't really convey to me what the system's about. "Genesis", "Super" Nintendo, XBox 360 (which I still don't understand), Neo Geo....

If they had named it "Revolution" and it flopped...it wouldn't have been much of a revolution......

a million. What does your call potential? ~ organic, Princess 2. Does your call's meaning "reflects" your "character"? ~ confident, plenty! 3. Do you think of your character will exchange now by utilising changing your call? ~ No. i'm what I certainly have become over the years. So call won't exchange my character.

I'll admit, I thought the same when I first heard it. But like many wierd names ("iPod, that's stupid. Just call it an MP3 player, IDIOTS") it grew on me. Just give it time, and you'll get used to it.

In a way, it is stupid. I guess Nintendo had nothing else to do when they pick the name for the console. :)

Yes, though it was chosen because it was easy for people from all different nationalities to pronounce, the name revolution wasn't.
