1996 Ford Thunderbird V6. What's wrong with it?

Fuel injectors need cleaned. My Car was doing the same thing....next time you fill up at the gas station, make sure your car is nearly empty. Have them put in that fuel cleaner stuff.....hopefully after 2 days that will clear it up.

if not, the fuel injectors need a thorough cleaning. Which is spendy but worth it.

Sounds dumb but do you let it warm up (if you are starting it in the mornings) letting it do its thing for a couple minutes helps....

A Mid 90s Ford with a V-6 ? Enough said . These cars where problematic to begin with . I have never heard of over revving though . It might be wise if there is a Honest Ford Dealer / or garage that might have a service bulletin on this . The dealer [ FORD ] would probably be your best bet . The mid 1990s for all cars were a rough time . The factory was trying various different ways to improve their cars with modules , computers , etc... some where a total disaster even before the 1990 s, Mid 1980,s were the worst . Your local Ford Dealer more then likely has had other cars in their shop with the same problem .

your head gaset might be cracked once its warm have somebody step on the gas and see if white smoke comes out the back if so sell as soon as possible! other than that the main thing wrong with your car is its a Ford!

What is wrong with your car is that it is a Ford. Ford has been making peice of crap cars for over a century. (Fix Or Repair Daily, Found On Road Dead.) Stick with a GM car. Nothing runs better than a Chevy.

sound like you need a tune up you should have your local mechanic take a look at it before it gets worse

sounds like not enough fuel

check injectors and fuel pump
